  • My first goal in learning is to demonstrate knowledge and skills related to learning using technology.

  • Using a wiki as a training device. I will include movies, slide show presentations, and ordinary paper and pencil stories and worksheets in several subject areas.

  • I want to help tutors, home school parents, classroom aides, teachers, and anyone else interested in education as much as I can.

  • I'm starting this website to work with kids after school and those who work with them whenever I can.

  • This is the start and a way to encourage others who work with all types of learners.

  • This website will continue to be completed and fine-tuned as time goes on.

  • Once the current topics are fleshed out I will add other topics as needed.

  • There is space below for comments and questions.

  • It is my hope that it gives you hope and the desire to learn more.

For more about me, go to IntrowithSound.ppt

I. The study of Language has taken awhile because I add a lot in this area. Go to Language Arts for more.

Limited English Proficiency is an area near and dear to me. I have created a special section for that area. Go to LEP for more.

I expect that this wiki as a whole demonstrates the ability to make informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of learning and leadership toward more personalized education in the future.

II. Try Science  for a quest about animals or plants. (Tell your students you know what your reading level is. This level will determine which level you start at.)

This section not only demonstrates knowledge and skills in current and emerging instructional technologies which is my second goal in learning but encourages tutors, home school parents, classroom aides, teachers, and anyone else interested in education to let learners use those emerging instructional technologies to demonstrate their own learning to others.

  • (Adults Read if planning a zoo trip. zoo_teachers_notes.pdf)

  • Note to adults: you will need the following to see everything.

    •      Apache Open Office 3.4.1 (free version of Office)

    •      Powerpoint Viewer if you can't hear the sound

    •      PDF reader/printer to get those pages

III. Try this to start your exploration of Social Studies.

(Only the project section is active here. The topics listed are from A Beka texts.)

  • Level A social studies is 2 days a week and covers: community helpers, Our Country, and Children of 10 countries
  •  Level B covers: Zoo lessons 1-34; Farm lessons 35-79, Ocean lessons 80-124; Spring lessons 125-170, community helpers, and American landmarks and American heritage
  • Level C covers: Pond lessons1-29; Transportation lessons 30-59: Children Around the World  lessons60-84; Jungle lessons85-119; Workers and Helpers lessons120-144; and Camping lessons145-170; biographies of great explorers and famous Americans (t9 encourage patriotism)
  • Level D covers: biographies of great explorers and famous Americans (to encourage patriotism)
  • Level E covers: the learner's state history, geography, and beginning research skills

  • Level F covers: the Eastern Hemisphere from Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Australia, Oceania, and Antarctica
  • Level G covers: the people, places, and events of Canada, North and South American history
  • Level H covers world history with key names, events, terms, time lines and maps
  • Level I covers American History and government with emphasis on the people and events in national, state, and local government that shaped the American character.

IIIa. Project-based Learning  like the examples below, may be added to the regular curriculum for learners after level F when the learner needs more work on research skills:

IV. My next goal of learning is to evaluate technology resources to facilitate effective assessment and evaluation has been fulled for reading and math by using the Brigance Comprehensive Inventory of Basic Sills II. It uses a technology-based management system. I expect to utilize  this technology to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings

V. Teaching Reading: jacksonsreading.pbworks.com for help.

  •  I tried to design learning opportunities that apply technology-enhanced instructional strategies.

  • I plan to support the needs of all learners with a 3 tiered reading program.

    • The Merrill program provides a lot of practice in phonics that some students don't need.

    • The Raz program provides a lot of vocabulary expansion with picture support.

    • A Beka's program progresses through phonics and vocabulary quickly and may go too fast for some students.

VI. The study of Mathematics starts at jacksonsmath.pbworks.com

  • Then look at Math sites for now .

  • If those websites are where your interests lie. Let me know if you want to be part of my class at those sites rather than paying the full fee for evaluation only.
